Dr Raoof was in Pakistan in February and March of
2014 and took the opportunity to visit
Sialkot Medical Complex,
Children's Hospital and
Children's School, all three establishments run by
the Al-Khidmat Committee in Sialkot.
It was gratifying to see the dialysis chairs in constant use
and facilitating hospital's care for their patients.
The Children Hospital
is providing free treatment to
orphan children, children from SOS village and children of
Zakat deserving families through its well equipped inpatient and outpatient facilities. The school is currently
providing free education for deserving children upto grade 5 . The
children are provided free uniforms , books and stationary, lunch ,
as well as transport and medical facilities. The school management
has been assured of SEHT's help to further improve their commendable
service to the community.
In Lahore Dr Izhar Hashmi of the Punjab Welfare
trust for the Disabled
arranged for Dr Raoof to visit Aziz Jehan Begum Trust
and the Institute for the Blind.
This is a unique institution in Pakistan and at the fore
front of developing and delivering first class education for the
blind with very impressive results.
After meeting with
the Chief Executive Officer of the trust Mr Mohammad
Salahuddin Jeddy, and the Institute's Education Director Mrs Ursula
N. Jeddy, DR Raoof
promised to seek SEHT trustees' agreement to contribute
funds towards the development and construction of
the Kid's complex at the institute. Details of this project

Note: SEHT trustees approved donation of Pak Rs 1.6 million at the
AGM on 21 March 2014 and
the money has since been transferred.
Visit was also made to the
Aabroo Welfare High School (for girls)
where SEHT is continuing to sponsor four children, and have
previously provided science laboratory equipment and chemicals.
The School's need for upgrading of
facilities and equipment at the computer laboratory and the Dress Designing and Making
vocational workshop
was discussed with the school management,
and appropriate
computer hardware and sewing and embroidery machines have since been
delivered at a cost of Pak Rs 0.3m.
